New Employees at Virginia Community Capital



Ashley Nelson
Ashley Nelson Picture Ashley Nelson has joined VCC as our Financial Reporting Manager. Ms. Nelson has been working with Elliott Davis in Richmond since 2008. She returns to the New River Valley to join our Christiansburg operation. She graduated from Radford University with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance.

Robb Strader
Robb Strader Picture A banking veteran with over 35 years of experience, Robb Strader has been named Chief Risk Officer at VCC. In this role, Strader will oversee the risk management processes for the organization and will manage external audit and loan reviews. Prior to joining VCC, Strader served as Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager at Community Bankers Bank where he managed a $60 million portfolio. Prior to that role, he was responsible for overall credit management of a $345-million-asset bank in North Carolina. A graduate of Randolph-Macon College, Mr. Strader received his Master’s of Business Administration at the College of William and Mary in 1975.

Wayne Waldrop
Wayne Waldrop Picture Our new Small Business Manager is Wayne Waldrop. Mr. Waldrop has over 20 years of commercial banking experience and ten years of economic development experience. Mr. Waldrop started his banking career with NCNB, a forerunner of Bank of America. Most recently, he was the Director of Business Information Services for the Virginia Department of Business Assistance. In that position, Mr. Waldrop managed the Virginia Business Information Center as well as the outreach effort to the entrepreneur and existing business community. He also spearheaded the Governor’s Business One Stop initiative, which accelerated new business formation in the Commonwealth. Mr. Waldrop is a 1982 graduate of Virginia Tech where he majored in Finance.
