DeHart To Serve on The Launch Place Fund Board

12/11/2012

Dawn DeHart, Senior Loan Officer at Virginia Community Capital (VCC), has been invited to serve on the board for The Launch Place Fund. The Launch Place is a new name for the Southside Business Technology Center (SBTC), which has served as the lead organization overseeing the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive Entrepreneurship Development Plan for the River District in Danville. The objective of the Plan is to retain, recruit, and develop emerging and serial entrepreneurs to locate their businesses to, and live in, the River District.

The SBTC, under the new name The Launch Place, is expanding its mission to advance economic growth in Southern Virginia by providing the following business assistance services:

• Entrepreneurship retention, recruitment, and development
• Seed Fund management
• Business Consulting
• Business Mentoring/Training/Coaching
• Incubation services

“We are very excited about our new fund and direction dedicated to providing seed financing to entrepreneurs/companies moving into the River District of Danville,” said Eva Doss, President and CEO of The Launch Place. “I am very thankful that Dawn DeHart agreed to serve on The Launch Place Fund board. Dawn’s skills, qualifications, experience, and enthusiasm will be a great asset to this organization, as it delivers its core responsibilities of lead creation, evaluation of seed fund applications, and carrying out investment decisions.”

“I am honored to participate as a board member of The Launch Place Fund,” noted Ms. DeHart. “VCC is very interested in promoting small business and entrepreneurial development across the Commonwealth. Our mission aligns perfectly with The Launch Place’s mission.”

Board terms run for three years with the possibility of two consecutive terms.
